Mark sensitive areas, confirm them and export a new PDF locally. Pages with confirmed redactions become images, so all text on those pages stops being selectable. Other pages keep their content. Reopen the export and check every page, including searching and copying hidden text. This is not a complete metadata or attachment sanitizer.
How to redact a PDF and check the exported file
1. Mark and confirm each area
Choose a PDF, locate the sensitive information and draw a box around it. Include the full text, then confirm the marked areas. Pending areas must be confirmed or removed before export.
2. Download and reopen the result
Download the new PDF and open that file in a PDF reader. A confirmed redaction turns its entire page into an image. This removes selectable text on that page, including text outside the boxes; pages without redactions keep their original content.
3. Test with a fictional identifier
For a practice document, use a fictional customer identifier such as DEMO-4821. After hiding it, search for that exact string and try selecting and copying the covered area in the exported PDF. Also inspect every page for repeats of the identifier and for incomplete boxes.
What this tool does not check
Redaction is not the same as adding a watermark or drawing a removable box. This tool does not promise to inspect every metadata field, attachment or hidden object. Review those separately when the sharing requirements demand it. Image conversion can increase file size and reduce searchability or accessibility on affected pages.
